Junges Musizieren

Stefan Voelkel not only creates new fruit and vegetable juices – he also loves music and passionately likes to play the flute. We at Voelkel regard the close connection between the holistic Demeter idea and the early promotion of the creativity of children and adolescents as well as their artistic development as important for the future.

This has lead to a close contact with the cello class of the Lüchow-Dannenberg music school, lead by Ilka Wagener. This class with more than 70 cello players may well be the largest and most active cello class in Germany. Even more surprising is the fact that this commitment can be found in a small region such as Lüchow-Dannenberg. Students of all ages play in small ensembles as well as the large orchestra, they take individual lessons and prepare for the yearly competition Jugend musiziert (Young People Play Music).

Many a success including the participation at this all-German competition has been scored, and it is a pleasure to see the enthusiasm with which all musicians between 5 and 50 years of age play together in a large orchestra. Today, the cello class is known far beyond the boundaries of our region.

Outstanding commitment means, however, additional expenses. Through the Voelkel initiative, we have been in a position to contribute to the financing of cello concerts, the yearly rehearsal weekend, uniform polo shirts for public concerts as well as concert tickets for the regional music weeks.
